Is it okay to be overweight as a kid….?
Overweight children are at higher risk of entering adulthood with too much weight because the Obesity can put kids at risk for medical problems that can affect their health now and in the future. These problems can allow a serious condition like type 2diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol.
Overweight and obesity for kids are also at risk
for:
- Joint and bone problems
- Shortness of breath that cause exercise, sports, or any physical activity more tough. This also can make asthma symptoms worse or lead kids to evolve asthma.
- Restless sleep or breathing problems at night, such as intrusive sleep apnea
- An impulsion to mature earlier. Overweight kids may be taller and more sexually mature than their peers, raising the prediction that they should act as old as they look, not as old as they are. Overweight girls may have unsystematic menstrual cycles and fertility problems in adulthood.
- Gallbladder and liver disease
Preventing obesity in childhood:
·
Regularly work to change the family
eating habits and exercise levels rather than concentrating on a child's
weight.
·
Inspire the children to do physical
activity. Children should have 60 minutes of mitigated physical activity most
days of the week. More than 60 minutes of activity may benefit weight loss and
provide weight maintenance.
·
Encourage children to eat slowly and
make them to eat when they feel hungry.
·
Reduce "screen" time in front
of the computer and television less than 1 to 2 hours daily.
• Inspire the children to eat least 5 servings
of vegetables and fruits daily.
• Inspire the children to drink water rather
than beverages with added sugar. These include fruit juice drinks, sports drinks, and soft drinks.
